Lori Miranda grew up on Long Island and in Webster, NY, graduating from Schroeder High School. Lori then attended Houghton College before serving as a short-term missionary with a church-planting team in Málaga, Spain. After that experience, Lori completed graduate studies as a Billy Graham Scholar at Wheaton College. God then led Lori to teach high school English at Webster Christian School, where she worked for seven years as a teacher and high school principal before coming to NCA. Lori has taught at NCA since 2016 and now serves as the English department chair. She is passionate about the interaction between education, literature, and faith. The following quote by Dr. Sue Crider Adkins expresses Lori’s educational philosophy well: “Literature broadens our horizons. It causes us to laugh, to cry, to think about our similarities and differences. We as Christians go to the Bible as our standard of truth because it tells us about the logos, the Living Word, Jesus Christ. Literature, however, offers us the corresponding dialogos, the dialogue that raises issues to which we as Christians must be able to respond with the truth from God’s Word. Literature is rarely about answers—but it does present, very vividly, the questions of life.”
Lori is a member of Webster Bible Church, where she teaches and serves on the Women’s Ministry Team and on the Deaconess Board. She enjoys traveling, watching plays, learning about history and other cultures, and having lots of fun with her nieces.
